Bottom line is IP and who gets it to market first.

What you write is true, but the advent of FPGA functionality on ASIC chips, the potential customer now has a choice he never had before. And there is no chance that XLNX can compete with LSI for IP cores. I look for a buyout of XLNX, which will be more of a capitulation than anything else.
