ANY other country (of course short of yugoslavia and stuff like that that doesn't exist) would have been a better choice.
The fact AMD went for Dresden just underscores their inherent nature of losers. It's gotta be in their DNA.

Some years ago I was working in Germany on a software project for the Bundeswehr with people from Siemens and one of the German research organizations, and the Germans did not all go on vacation at the same time. They tended to plan their vacation a year in advance, be gone for 4 or 5 weeks, and spend the next few weeks at work talking about the vacation they just took and planning the next one.

I remember one case that drove us up a wall. We were facing a deadline when one of the Siemens supervisors went on vacation for 4 weeks, came back for a week, and then went for a 4 week Kur to some health spa at government expense!
