RUMOR...(Unfounded, Unsubstantiated, and probably Untrue, BUT------>
still very interesting.

A post from another Thread stated that Dell an IBM Officials were
seen looking over Dell's new site in Nashville Tenn.

If memory serves me correctly some buildings on this site were to be
taken down beginning last week, whereupon construction of Dell's new
facilities could begin shortly thereafter.

Meanwhile a 245,000 square feet facility over in Lebanon Tenn. was
to be ready for production sometime next month (August ).

I also remember reading where Dell had stated that when their new
facilities in Nashville were ready, that Dell had planned to keep the
facility over in Lebanon open for production, for some time after the
Nashville facilities were operational.

From what I can determine Dell plans on building certain models of
their Dell Dimension Desktop Computers at these facilities.

Now hold on a minute here Pilgrims. I realize that Dell says that
in their opinion the PC market will remain strong, but really, that
strong?

Presently the Dimension Desktops are produced at the K12 facility in
the Braker Complex in Austin. One would think that this facility is
on what is called a "Dell Burst". (A term I picked up from a Dell
Engineer at the Metric 12 facility.) A Dell Burst is simply going to
3 shifts when orders exceed the production capabilities of a 2 shift
operation.

Since one can order a Desktop and have it delivered to his or her
doorstep in a matter of 4-6 days, one would wonder is Dell
overbuilding in Lebanon and Nashville, or just what is going
on here?

Now, back to the rumor I seen Posted on another Thread. Maybe not
so far fetched as one might be lead to believe at first glance NO?

IBM by DELL. Now that has a ring to it huh?

Does anyone have Norton's telephone number just in case it is needed?
