Man, it hit 104 near us yesterday, brutal is right. Hurt to be outside in that humidity.

Dog bite left an ugly scar (I just tell the curious that it was an unsuccessful suicide attempt). We live just west of MKE, not far from the state fair park.

Been a real sizzler up here too... If I don't have the canoe out on the river by 6, it isn't worth going... I'd be baking by 9.

Lots of humidity... feels like you've hit a wall of it when you open the doors of the house... Lots of thunderstorms too, but it doesn't seem to cool things down too much. In fact, after the rain, things get even worse.

Amazing lightning lately though. Had some visitors from Europe here last week. The first night they were here, there was chain lightning behind clouds just after dusk. It was incredible. Filled the sky with giant clouds that seemed lit up like fireballs. Actually, I've never seen anything quite like that before either, but our visitors were blown away.

Wednesday night it got a bit too close though. Two extremely close strikes in less than a minute. Mr. Croc's horse let out a squeal like he had been hit. We ran to the window only to see him whizzing past bucking and kicking like he had the devil on his back... Maybe he got a piece of the strike through the ground. Anyhow, when the next bolt came, he let out another shriek and went roaring off through the fields to the back of the farm.....

Quite a summer we're having...
