Re: Your answer should be that AMD is a DEAD MAN WALKING.

Could be. What I wonder about, is why INTC first threatened, then actually filed a lawsuit against, VIA to attempt to force them to ship slower products than their capabilities permitted. This was done immediately following an anti-trust investigation in which they were accused of using their near monopoly in the CPU / chipset / motherboard market to influence price and availability of technologies. With justice making noises about breaking up Microsoft, Intel FILES A BRIEF in a LAWSUIT to force the industry to ship SLOWER products! This action could haunt them for years! They are practically begging justice to reopen its complaint. It's as though Microsoft sued gateway for violating a secret contract to not ship computers with non-microsoft programs.

Is INTC terrified about something? And how dare VIA, hugely dependent on INTC information and technology tell INTC to buzz off?
What could cause such confidence in VIA?

RE: << Now, if you think that Intel is DOOMED because they missed the "consensus" estimate by a few pennies, what do you think of AMD's future - since they reported a gargantuan loss of $163 million versus an analyst "consensus" of a $40 million loss ?>>

What are you talking about? Intel is one of the NAZ 100. It is considered a major tech leader. Missing the consensus estimates was major. To compare AMD's screwups to intc's is ludicrous.

In my estimation there were 3 reasons why intc has not paid (yet) for what you call a minor miss of the consensus estimate. The MM's moved quickly, the market was forgiving (because other reports came in very positive) and CB gave future guidance that sounded like intc's version of "there's gold in them dar hills".

Like I said before, you had better hope koppafeel's ( I DO like its new name) is early rather than late. And it would not hurt to have good yields at 850MHz.

Good luck.
