But Cheeky - it wasn't a park. It was a wonderful vacant lot on which we used to play in freedom among the trees, but it was never a park. It was a vacant lot, private property held by a developer. Now the developer has decided that's it's time to develop, to gain income from the property. Which is his right, and which we always in the back of our minds understood. We will soon see the character of the developer expressed in how he treats our 'park'. They're not all bad, you know .... did i ever tell you I own a bulldozer? But i only drive it between the trees, and only on Sundays.

The New SI feels like a stock market info site, where community is secondary. Why? I think it is as simple as the fact that less of the posted message is visible on each post without scrolling. The sluggishness of the Beta as takes the fun out it. For example, some of the changes that we have launched recently include:EOV<< Each of the above shows progessively less of the posted message. You have to log out to see the smaller view as a guest. The Beta uses the same address, so I had to register as my dog to see it. My surprise was that I liked Classic SI much less when seeing the guest view than the member's view of Beta. Naturally, SI Classic is best for members now. Conclusion: I would prefer the New if it showed at least as much of each post initially as the Classic. This difference is more exagerated on WinCE hhandheld devices. It would be nice to have an Ignore button, too.
