/k1bo, There certainly are some elements of things that took place, for me, 46 years ago that do seem like they just happened yesterday and are recallable in detail - especially having built the first transmitter from scratch, checking it out, firing it up, tuning it up, getting on the air and actually getting someone to answer. Although I cannot claim a long and distinguished career as a cw purist, the old licensing laws which made you maintain morse code proficiency no matter what your actual interest was, served as a great self-disciplinary tool. I must say, however, that I was very pleased that in commercial licensing one could make a choice and advance without the overhanging code proficiency requirement. Steve
