The question I was answering was referring to the existence of bad. i answered by associating the question to the controversy over pms. I in know way meant to say that PMS was an illness that would cause one to become violent. However, it is surprising that doctor's haven't come forth and classified pms as an illness, and started prescribing prozac, et al. A lot of money to be made there! However, there are many similarities between bad and pms. both are caused by chemical imbalances. both have symptoms of mood swings. if a man went to a doctor complaining of symptoms common with pms, he would be diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder. people are hospitalized for psychiatric diagnosis for many reasons, nearly all of them are because of a suicide attempt, or a way out of jail for substance abuse. some are put their for failing to pass through socialized filtering techniques. these acts are then classified. usually as bp or md. some schizo. some are fakers and sent to jail. but explaining antisocial behavior is not a simple matter. while chemical imbalances are scientifically shown to be a significant factor in schizophrenia from cat scans of the brain, and lithium is a cool way to bring the chemical harmony back, and mood control drugs show some decrease in repeat suicide attempts and substance abuse (including nicotine), i sincerely believe that people do not attempt suicide because of a chemical imbalance that causes them to have a mood swing. else, many women would be committing suicide during pms. substance abuse is also not to be attributed to inappropriate mood swings in all cases. liberals would say that society causes the problems. conservatives say it is a lack of morality. same thing don't you think? personally, i think freud is closer to the truth. to summarize, just look at how medicine is treating women who are fearful of breast cancer. a few months ago they were recomending breast removal as the best prevention. recently, tamoxifen is recommended which is basically chemical castration. in my opinion, medicine needs a better diagnostic imager than the mammogram.
