QUESTION FOR ALL: HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK IT COSTS TO KEEP TWO SITES (OLD AND NEW) UP AND RUNNING?

Go2Net/SI are currently running both sites, and the sensible thing would be to ask them directly. Problem is, lately we have not been getting answers to direct questions like this one...

Okay, okay, I know it's a Canadian holiday today (Monday)...<g>

John, I was trying to set up my speed trap comments prior to making them (obviously unsuccessfully), the point was that there was a lot of noise in the beta that I think SI responded to, but it was all centered around colors and boxes. It wasn't "throwing the users a bone" (as another poster elsewhere put it) or anything like that.

Its unfair to imply that all these other things came up beforehand and si brushed them off, the real story was, there were a few users of the beta that were agressive in pushing their agenda and thats what SI did.

As in all of these situations I'm sure everyone is at the end of their patience on both sides... (except me, I'm numb).

Posts with new ideas generate little discussion. Surely everyone doesn't think all the ideas bad. I'd have thought that if they were bad that too would generate commentary as well.

I think there is a sense that we do not want to overwhelm SI with requests for additional functionality at this point in time.

Many of the functional issues had been discussed a long time ago. I think there has been some disappointment that some of the long sought improvements did not materialize in the beta. Best example is improved search. I think support for this is and has been almost unanimous yet the beta *accidently overlooked maintaining the existing capability* Instead we have tried to get back what we lost. First things first.

multiple subjectmarks request... nobody reiterated it

I recall supporting Andreas' request for multiple subject mark removable capability. I would also like to see some kind of bookmark management page..also said before. I dread clicking on the subject mark page. It takes a VERY long time to load. I have about a hundred threads marked. I am usually interested in about a dozen threads. I do not want to unbookmark the others. I want to have them on a second lower priority page.
