Michelle, There is a way to see all posts. When you click the thread subject, i.e. SI 7/01/99 Beta Site Launch, on the top of this thread, you will get the posts listed. On the right is a box that says 'Go to Post #' In that box you can type in 100, 200 or 2000, and view each post in any group. ~Sarkie

So that leaves these issues: 1) The "search this thread" function. That has been restored. 2) The "posts by this person" search function. That has NOT been restored. 3) The number of posts listed on the profile page reduced to 20, as against 100 on classic SI. 4) The disappearance of the Clubhouses. 5) Ability to access lists of prior posts by range. A few from memory ref #Subject-27464 (with a focus on the message boards) 7) An enhanced search engine that can search to the beginning of a thread..(IMO the most asked for enhancement) 8) Bookmark management..ability to prioritize..delete in groups and/or the ability to have two bookmark pages..one for priority book marks and one for secondary bookmarks 9) Comment fields with thread and people marks..(why did I bookmark this thread??) 10) Stamp the stock price on a post 11) A spell checker that offers suggestions (to be included in a full function post editing window) 12) The ability to file posts from any poster in the message center Zeuspaul

Michelle, here is something I don't think was brought up before. But I would add it to any list of things that ought/could be done. Message 10796268 Now, about the Clubhouses. I didn't really know what they were for, until a participant in the Grammar & Spelling Lab suggested we institute one, and posted Jill with a request. We have found our Clubhouse enormously useful, in the short time it's been in existence. We use it to store "anthologies" of the "best of the best" posts on disputed points of usage, as well as lists of links to the best printed and online reference sources. For one thing, that saves a lot of time. 1) When someone comes up with a question we have already gone over zillions of times, we can refer them to an "anthology" on the subject (if we have one). 2) We don't have to go hunting for some post we "know" is "there somewhere." 3) Folks can easily refer to appropriate links when a new dispute comes up. 4) etc. Personally, I think that if more people were aware of Clubhouses, and of what they can be used for, you might see more of them. But only if they were available, of course. And that brings us to the same old question: why were they dropped from the Beta version in the first place? Now, about your final comment: BTW imo, it really isn't feasible to have an old and a new site, only because the old one takes on a life of its own in terms of supportability. Most R&D groups don't want to manage that, I know. In this case I am unsure what they will do with this uproar. You may be right, Michelle. But we have asked management about that, and so far have received no response. In the meantime, folks are beginning to cite that sentence on the New SI's log-in page (For those of you who wish to continue using the old SI, you can do so by visiting techstocks.com as "proof" that SI intends to keep the old site up indefinitely....If it does not intend to, that sentence is a bit disingenuous, to say the least.
