I dont think I ever fully grasped the limit that a decade of deficits placed on the federal government. It came as sort of a mental <click!> :) I do think they underestimated the role of foreign policy, especially given Clinton's knack for getting us into obscene and wasteful conflicts. As I wrote to MNI, I believe the next President will have the biggest impact in deciding what direction to take with the military. If Bush Jr. wins, I put great store in reviving the dulldrums of our armed services. Derek
