lorraine, why you sent these to me, the RECEPIENT of the public and private insults is a mystery to me. while i sympathize with your physical limitations and admire your spunk in dealing with whatever life handed you after your accident that you referred to in a previou post, mental toughness is required as things continue to deteriorate in society. y2k is just the latest pin to prick the bubble of denial in this era. i've lived 3 score and 10, young lady. i've lived through the depression and the reconstruction. i've lived through WWII, the Korean War, the Cold War, the Viet Nam War, the Gulf War, the Bosnian War, the oil embargo, the war on drugs, the war on juvenile crime, the war on inflation, and the war of words with 6 younguns of my own. i'm entitled to respect. i don't ask for it. i just act as if i have it and have no problem pointing out to the younger generation when i am not being recorded the respect i deserve. plain talk is not very popular nowadays with the younger generation. it is treasured by us in our 'senior years.' i continue to promulgate and propigate plain speaking. you have spoken plainly and i have heard you. i will not modify my conduct in order to make you comfortable. i will assist you in your physical limitations whenever i am asked. however, the fact that you possess a next button allows you the freedom to skip my posts at anytime you wish. that is just one keystroke. while this may sound callous, young lady, i assure you it is not. i told this thread very early on, i was actively preparing mentally and emotionally for the not too distant time when freely offered trust based on political gamesmanship with information regardig our very survival is luxury that will be wiped away in the instant of a ticking clock. just today, technoj learned that the banks are already going to be closed. did that plain speaking hurt him? you need help building a solar still? you need help in rotating your water inventory? you need assistance in constructing some more workarounds so that your personal life is easier in the very trying days ahead? do you need more accessible fire extinquishers in every room? do you need alternatives to your current laundry schedule? do you need a hole in your roof repaired? do you need your furnace or chimney flue cleaned? then i'm your man. if you have all that covered and more, then be well, lorraine. i have no beef with you. but the next time, surely you can at least reply to the attacker, and not the attacked. i repeat, that is the first time in my entire existence i've ever replied to this ron reece guy who is so woefully unprepared and advocating such balanced approach to the problem. unless he and those like him admit they are scared and ask for help NOW when we can give it from our own luxury of time and preparedness, then it will be too late and my door and i suspect YOUR DOOR will be closed firmly to keep him and his ilk at bay. think about it!
