I believe comparing the new Slot A/B with Microchannel is more
appropriate. Intel has proved that it can change the socket/slot
the way it wants, now let's see what AMD can do in this area.
It is the first time they are not using what is built and
left by Intel and do it all by their own.

I'm a little new at this, and read (then respond to) the posts that show up in the "inbox" first. I'm sorry if it appeared that I was belaboring a point. I saw the discussion about chip densities after it was too late. Your posts are some of the best on this site, I've learned a lot from them, and I thank you for them.

And your point about Slot 1 is well taken - and of course the present replacement for microchannel is a standard straight from intel. It's the 4% royalty and resistance from some vendors that I find similar (and compelling).
