I looked around and have not been able to find any box office numbers for other countries yet, but I did pick up a few items from different web sites that might be of interest. Note that the release date form the US has been moved up to Aug 20th, the date below is wrong. Mark -------------------------UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: THE RETURN Resigning as one of the world's premiere box-office stars and action heroes, Jean-Claude Van Damme jumps into sequel territory for the first time in his career with UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: THE RETURN. With more than 20 films to his name, including hits such as the original "Universal Soldier," Timecop," "Double Impact," "Hard Target" and Nowhere to Run," Jean Claude Van Damme defines action in its purest form. He constantly tackles new and inventine projects that showcase his charisma, charm and martial arts prowess. Once again, he brings these assets to the forefront with UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: THE RETURN, a sequel to one of his most successful international hits that grossed upwards of $100 million worldwide. --------------- I've seen this movie on the 2nd of july (the day of premiere in Russia). It's kinda weird that this movie was shown in Russia first, even knowing that the american premiere is up for August. But still,I'm glad I've seen it first. I'm not a fan of Van Damme but the only thing I can say about this movie is that it sure is better than the first Universal Soldier !!! The action and the fight scenes are more cool and exciting. The plot is not bad. But even in this movie,Van Damme is not sparkling as he used to be in his previous movies. ---------------- Release dates for Universal Soldier: The Return (1999) Country Date Belgium 4 July 1999 (Wilkinson American Movie Day) Malaysia 10 July 1999 France 14 July 1999 Brazil 30 July 1999 Denmark 30 July 1999 Belgium August 1999 Australia 5 August 1999 Estonia 6 August 1999 Sweden 13 August 1999 Netherlands 19 August 1999 USA 27 August 1999 Germany 2 September 1999 Singapore 16 September 1999 Egypt October 1999 Iceland 1 October 1999 Slovakia 21 October 1999
