I have decided that, in the future, I will demand a written confirmation of the rate details of any long-distance rate offer with a written acceptance prior to authorizing a switch-over. I am sick and tired of receiving deceptive and incomplete verbal descriptions of LD rate offers over the phone. My wife recently changed from ATT to WCOM LD based on a verbal offer that seemed to offer 10 cents a minute all day Mon thru Fri and 5 cents a minute Sat and Sun. After we were switched over, the paper work arrived and we found that the actual offer was 25 cents a minute during peak hours (before 7PM) for both interstate and local long distance with the 10 cent rate kicking in only after 7PM. Even the written offer was deceptive in that the wording of the lead-in mentioned 10 cents a minute ALL DAY Mon-Fri (after 7PM).

The only other company that was much better on providing verbal details was ATT. It took almost 15 minutes of 21 questions with GTE to drag an accurate description of their best offer from them.

MCI's reputation for residential service sucks!, based on other comments I have read on this thread. It makes you wonder why they just don't get out of that sector of the business.

A satisfied stockholder, but a dissatisfied former customer.
Sorry for the tirade.
