With Dow Chemical buying Union Carbide, that will leave an opening on the DJIA. Can anyone think of a good reason why the largest market cap company around (MSFT) shouldn't be a logical replacement?

They were talking about that on CNBC this morning. UK is the only chemical company on the DJIA and would likely be replaced with a like company, according the the Talking Heads' speculations.

I'd rather they stay on the Naz, but hey...sooner or later it probably has to happen. BTW if anyone wants a good scare/laugh, check out this post by LindyBill on G&K about MSFT buying US govt:

I don't think it will happen because MSFT is not listed and is not industrial. Neither is a prerequisite, but all DJIA stocks comply with either or both of these requirements.

You know the big board has reserved the symbol "M" for MSFT should they ever choose to fly the coop.
