rarebird,

A vibrant world economy will lead to a continuingly vibrant US economy.

However, a strong economy cannot center around how much more you can export to the US and Europe than your neighbor. And that is what is currently occurring.

There are considerable restructuring issues that must be dealt with in these nations financial systems so that we never again find ourselves in the current situation where there is only one nation structurally transparent enough to maintain growth.

These nations have got to make some hard decisions and there is so much the US can do to ease the pain.

So while I would love to see the world recover, I know that it can't until see more than one major economy show economic strength.

And in a Y2K driven scenario, you well know that other nations are at greater risk of disruption than is the US.

Regards,

Ron
