If the deal is called off you will get much more than a spike. All the arbs who are short are going to have to cover quickly as they unload their hedged positions. Furthermore, QWST goes back to a high growth multiple once it is no longer encumbered. A great majority of the selling has already happened. The result of all these factors will tend to exaggerate the movement up. With no sellers the stock could easily move back into the high thirties, low forties at warp speed before there would be any resistance. This move would probably be faster than the move down.
