DVD quality video needs around 3.5 mbit/s for the video and 384kbit/s per sound track.

@Home average speed is no higher than 1Mbit/s. DVD quality video is not a reality until they can raise the throughput to beyond 3.5 Mbit/s.
A burst rate of 3.5 Mbit/s is not enough, @Home's network must keep constant 3.5mbps throughput to make video phone or video on demand a reality. @Home still has a long way to go from here.
