Did anyone get to see the interview with Bob Pittman just now? He was very good and it reminded me again why I invested in AOL. I have to admit though that I feel a tad better now than in the morning.

He mentioned again that AOL users go for the content. We could strip a lot of things and make access cheaper. We took a survey before we raised prices from 19.95 to 21.95. Users did not want the content cut. He said for people who are more price oriented can already access Compuserve which is cheaper.

He said he does not know what Wall Street is thinking about when they drop AOL's stock price just because an article comes out on a particular day. (Not exact words) When people are saying that our business has been slowing down they must have been sleeping for the last 2o years. Summer is mostly a slow season. But we had the best quarter ever. He talked about the deal with American Greetings yesterday and mentioned that this deal alone amounted to more revenues than most internet cos. are making or are worth. Can't quite remember exactly. I hope a lot of you got the chance to watch the interview.

AOL was still moving up after Wall Street closed. And the futures were up over 2.5 last time I looked.

PRU is still calling for a 212 price target in 12 mos. and most analysts that were on the tube today think that AOL is a great buy.

<<MSFT can afford to bleed red longer than NetZero or AOL, but eventually economics kicks in. >>

Agreed.

How long does a microsoft shareholder watch revenue slip away...simply because they have it to burn ?? If I were a msft shareholder right now, I would be concerned that MSFT is " reaching ". The bottom line is whatever happens, it will be an equal playing field. And with the brand recognition of aol...I am in their corner all the way. Hey, If I need some software, Billy Boy will be the first I call, but if I want the best internet service...well, I'll stick with my lowly aol anyday.

Rocketman: New to this board, but thought I'd post re: free internet.

Tho Netzero has not been able to offer free internet without bleeding red, this company Cybersurf in Canada has been.

Word is they sre in talks with American - before today, I had bet it was ATHM.

By the way, they do free internet profitably, through use of patented technology that FORCES targetted ads to the user. User does not care, 'cause its free. Click through rates are huge since ads are VERY targetted.

Sponsors include P&G, IBM, and Canadas #1 Brewer, Molsons.

FYI

Dave
