TECHNOLOGY ARRIVES IN SILICON VALLEY!!!!!!

Tony and the rest of you Silicon Valley residents, call Pac Bell immediately. They are rolling out dsl as we speak. If you are within a <unspecified distance> from a sub office, you are eligible. The price is $39/mo. plus $10/mo. for their isp services.

Note: I'm paying $20 for Earthlink and $25 for my second phone line and logging in at 52Kbaud. With the Pac Bell service I am guaranteed 384Kbaud*, and since I am within 3500 feet of the sub station, they think I might connect as high as 1.5Mbaud.

I signed up, and they should install in the next 2 weeks. I will let you know how it works out <g>.

Frank

*I'm guessing at that number, as I didn't write it down, so don't quote me on it.

What happened? Earlier this year, you were saying on this thread that the Intel gorilla was about as healthy as King Kong after the Empire State building gig.

Looks like I am talking out of both sides of my mouth, doesn't it? The operative words were "if I owned 4 stocks". I own only one, of course. I listed the 4 major Gorillas for both return and safety. Intel to me is a safe stock right now. My "war warning" on it meant that I did not expect it to grow more that 10 to 20 % a year in the future, which, by out standards, is nothing. But, it would be a safe place to park money until you had a better idea, and you would probably make more on it than putting the bucks in a money market fund.

The only move I am planning in the near future is to be right on top of softie and the DOJ outcome. I will sit by the phone and buy like mad if the press reports the DOJ decision as favorable to Gates. It would be an in and out move, figuring that I could pick up 20 to 40% on the jump, then put it back in Q.
