To All,

*OT*
I have a strange question to ask. I am wondering if it is illegal to 'invest' or shall I say sell short/buy puts on a stock/company that I have a disliking for. Ie ... let's say I have a bad opinion about a particular company/store. And let's say instead of just not shopping at that store I decide I would be better to sell short the stock at a ripe time or to buy puts.

I'll tell you that there are a few businesses that I really am unhappy with and I feel that going the route of not shopping there/better business bureau/talking to someone higher up etc ... sometimes just doens't cut it.

So why not also short a company that you have a disliking for (of course at a good time). And just maybe ones money will have an impact on the outcome of the overall stockmove.
And thus affect the company etc ... maybe even to a greater degree then the previous things. And hey one can make a few bucks while doing it too.
Oh and another thing is it illegal to then let the store/businesses know what ones intentions are (sometimes people just dont care if you shop there/buy their product/care about improving customer service etc/ maybe they may care about if one starts saying that you plan on shorting thier stock whenever possiable?

So basically I am wondering if it's illegal to invest in this way in companies etc...

thankx,

Sean Sanders
