I can't recall - and could easily be wrong - it's a recollection from an article that said that rambus should only cost 40% more than SDRAM, despite some reports of initial samples going for quite a bit more than that.
The 40% probably included the 5% royalty (which takes us down to 35%.

If I can recall the article, I'll post the link, meanwhile, I'd be inclined to go with your EBN report.

Cost increases by about 40% currently mainly due to die sizes being from 12 to 25% larger.
