In response to your post number 3602 on this thread and your observation that most short term traders gains are taxable as income;would it not be easier to use a mark to mark bookeeping method and save the trouble of keeping track of hundreds or perhaps thousands of transactions.

For example portfolio at beginning of taxation year valued at $100,000 end of year value of portfolio at market price $150,000.(Assuming no cash injections or withdrawals)
Year end total income from trading $50,000.Subtract all trading related expenses and pay tax at nominal rate prevailing.

Are you aware if Revenue Canada would allow this?
