In Q2 of next year, AMD should be firing on all cylinders. They will be in a tough battle with Intel, but Athlon versions with 256K on-chip L2, and 1 GHz Ultras with 8 MB of core frequency off chip L2 offered in 8-way server configurations should allow AMD to keep their ASP up. At the end of next year, Intel will counter with their 32 bit Willamette, which will out perform the Athlon. But, I will bet that at next years MPF we will here of a 64 bit K8 that will blow the doors off of the Merced (and maybe even Mckinley), be available in 2001, and make the Willamette obsolete.
