[The word out here is that the engineering group at Ebay wants to do things their way. That is their business.]

Correct! Ebay management is responsible for the company's performance. They should have insured that a proper back-up system was in place.

If I were in the OR room waiting for surgery and the lights went out, I wouldn't write a nasty letter to the city's electric company. Instead, I'd yell at the hospital's administrators. They are responsible for the hospital's back-up system.

I didn't slam Sun; I just said NOT helping them is a missed opportunity. Get the facts straight Wilbur.

Come on James, tell us again how Ebay should be running on NT.

A properly designed multi-node vendor independant back-end architecture would be superior to a single E10000 box; especially if your running your business on a box.

When that E10000 went down in June because of a OS patch that wasn't applied their entire business was down!! In a vendor independant multi-node config they would have continued to be up and running.
