re:I agree with you on the long term for WCOM.
The boys at Qwest are pretty slick with their new offer to give you the internet for free, don't you think?
.... The little kicker in their new plan to charge you $14.95 for the internet service in each month you don't spend $50.00 for long distance is pretty well disquised....

Well Bill $24.95 a month equals to about 10c a minute with the Quest deal. If you don't you don't make at least 250 minutes of long distance call a month your paying to much. Even with this deal I think your paying too much as I only pay 9C a minute (5c on Sundays) with WCOM and soon less. The free Internet access is nice, but having to spend at least $50 a month is pretty resrictive. It is a nice marketing gimic, but they can only take it so far.

Plus dial up accounts will only be around for so long anyhow. I wouldn't give up my cable access for a dial up now that I have a taste for speed. In addition, they only have so many local access numbers to their Internet. I would have to pay a toll call each time I wanted to access the Qwest Internet where I live.

This deal is best for those who make about $50 - 70 worth of long distance calls a month, and who want dial up access. But I would make sure the access number is a local call first.

I must say in general, most of these telephone offers tend to be great at first glance, but get more restrictive as you read the fine print.
