My opinions may be extreme but I can't see this money running out to
the stock market. It's nothing to do with culture; it's the realistic situation. Japanese people are as brave as anybody when they see a promising investment. Consider these factors. 1. The crisis continues. Most people who have lived long enough to save a sizeable sum are in too precarious a situation to risk their money in the stock market. 2. High labour costs, Who knows where the new stimulus to the economy will come from? 3. The population is ageing. 4. Disclosure is not up to U.S. SEC standards, low as those are. I'm no economist; I'm sort of reflecting the pessimism of all my Japanese friends. This noted, there has been a boom, since last November, in the type of stocks that foreigners buy, i.e. high ROE low dividend, relatively fast growth stock. But after all there are only a few of those. I repeat my feeling: Softbank? Yes. The Japanese market as a whole? No.

Do not know, but I would think the wheel is somewhat circular in shape no matter what culture and we only need a bit of the 80% cash to make a bouncing equity market. Edwin-san, opinion please.
