Indeed...experiments show that people can only hear
pure tones up to about 20 kHz. Yet, a difference in
arrival times between the two ears of 1 microsecond
is readily perceived. That implies that good imaging
requires frequency components in the megahertz range
that need to be delivered acoustically.

Not an easy problem....

Be glad we're not owls or bats. Then we'd NEED those
megahertz signals to find our dinner. I guess the owls
should be glad that we don't have stereos that
can accurately reproduce the sound of a mouse walking
across the floor.
