If this post doesn't make sense, I apologize. I am just doing some aloud thinking.

Ed, I am concerned. Your post made perfect sense to me. Are we both in trouble?

Let me evaluate the whole scenario, assuming the worst:

1) Excite somehow got spun off under the pressure of Armstrong.
2) ATHM becomes a dumb pipe.
3) ATT pisses off Cox, Comcast and other MSOs.
4) ATT pisses off Jermoluk, Medin and George Bell, so risking all of them leave the company.
5) Many of ATHM's employee get disheartened and leave the company.
6) ATT needs to quickly enroll Yahoo or AOL as content provider.
...

Dosen't this scenario cause too much disharmony, heartbreaks and major diservice to the speedy roll out of cable modem?
Why would Armstrong do this?

"...might not be a 'great strategic fit' with Excite's web portal service." ATHM spent over $5B dollar to merge/acquire Excite.
Is Mr. T hinting that ATHM management is making a mistake?
I can feel there is definitely tension between ATHM and AT&T.

Mark i have the T service the dial up internet, my cable is UMG. T has fouled me up tremendously on e mail i can't speak to either of my sons via email neither Corp will accept from T Seem to me that maintaining customers expecting them to graduate to a faster service starts with prime service accommodating customers they already have.

T in my opinion is not doing this . If i were At Home i would go it alone

<If Armstrong indeed made those comments in public, he pulled a real Brutus.>

I agree, if he did make that stupid mistake in public.
As far I am concerned, it is only a rumor put out by the A hole ding enemy camp.
