Morgan, LOL, :)

I'm the one who reported to the board, after calling
IR. But I only called two days ago. And I had no
clue about the 10Q at that time.

I still feel its not a big deal. A total of 5.5 Mil
shares traded on Jul 22, and NITE would have bought
400,000 or so shares (depending on when) over a period
of time. We don't know, perhaps they are considering
another buy-back program even now, given that they have
the money and can do it. Why would they announce it,
if they can use it at an opportune moment? I just feel
there are many things we don't know, both good and bad.
That is the nature of the investing business, regardless
of company, and it effects all but the day-traders.

Joseph

Joseph, I already addressed the issue of "effect".

The point is not that they should have been buying at 50. Rather that the existence of the buyback program would have limited the downdraft - as I explained in another post. It was psychological. Plus, actually, a well timed buy can squeeze the shorts with very few shares used. And finally, the cancellation was like a red flag to a bull. Those in the know got to profit, while the little guy got margin calls. Why cancel? Perfect timing - not. And why not announce, so that the little guy too can protect himself?
