True, but AOL had their "BBS" long before the internet had a web browser. Without a browser the "net" is pretty bland, unless gopher gets it done for you.

As a matter of fact, the Internet was a MUCH nicer place before many of the bad mannered, computer-illiterate AOL people got on

LOL! Agreed, I am not looking forward to sharing my cable with them!

Yes, I think we all know that - the net back then was irrelevant to most people. On rereading I can see the statement "no internet yet" could and should be taken as a misstatement. Please insert "No intent connection from within AOL" or just delete it altogether.

The point is that AOL from inception was created to attract customers. ATHM seems to have been born to meet a technical challenge. Going forward does ATHM continue to build a business around that solution?
