Jeff: I am new to this company as of the weakness today, and respect your opinion after following your opinion over at LOR. Now that the spo is over, any thoughts? I tend to think that it was absorbed rather nicely considering the conditions of the overall market. This seems like a terrific spot to step in, although I realize many are in higher. Good luck to all...

The issue here is not which proceedure is more elegant, has better results in peer reviewed journals or more flexible. The only issue that is of practical import for this company is whether a significant number of high volume refractive surgeons will choose the corneal ring over Lasik. I am well acquainted with several of these surgeons and they show no intent to drop Lasik in favor of the rings. Kera has only a few quarters of cash (even with the secondary) to get this thing up in the air and I doubt they will make it.

My comments are only based on some conversations with a highly respected opthalmic surgeon. He and his colleagues are not impressed with Intacts.

I agree that surgeons originally chose the field for hands-on practice, but I bet that if you ask a surgeon to choose between a computer-controlled procedure that takes 10 minutes and a manual procedure that takes more effort and time, they'll choose the computer. They also chose the field to maximize their earnings.

Personally I don't feel comfortable with either procedure. Maybe when those new implantable contacts come out I'll give that a whirl. Do you know of any public companies involved with those?
