Thanks for that sweeping panoramic <g>. Symantec needs you.

It sounds so much more interesting when you explain it. I mean that. I just went and read several review articles that are posted on the Symantec site, and your description is much more informative and vivid. I think history adds depth.

The core stuff actually sounds very attractive. I guess the main thing that turned me off about SW is the idea of having something always running in the background, but I guess that's not necessarily so.

As usual with your posts there is a lot that is beyond me and that I'll probably never appreciate. I'll have to start a PW file just in case.

PS There's a huge article in The New Yorker this week about Microsoft and the Justice Dept. Just started reading it -- looks like it may be good.

hey pw,

my compliments on a well-written norton post. and wily's right, symantec could use your skills. <g3>

i have a question for any ie5.0 browser users...

someone asked me how to put url links into an SI pm from their ie5.0 bookmarks. i couldn't help them. do you know?

in netscape i can right-click on a bookmark, select 'copy link location', then paste it to the SI pm. he said that doesn't work in ie5.0. i said at the very least he could open each url in a browser window, copy the address from the location bar, then paste that into the pm. i think that would work. but it's ineffective for trying to send 20 links or so. that'd be opening 20 websites.

so how do you do it?

:)

..DEFRAG looks at the use of files before deciding their placement by consulting the files in \WINDOWS\APPLOG which Windows maintains. (Psssst! The Boss can check how often you've been playing FreeCell.)...

How do I get to and view the contents of this file?....I looked under C:\Windows and didn't see APPLOG and then did a "find" for APPLOG and came up empty on that too!....is this file editable( i.e. I'm a bit paranoid and don't like leaving footprints)
