John, I interpreted the Samsung remark to mean that this Korean co. was not beta testing a Valence/NI product. In fact, I don't recall any post or mail circulating this idea. Speculation has always centered on a Japanese co of some prominence. Hanil is not quite to this stage, but I assume they are nearly ready to submit commercial samples for shop testing. It's possible that pre production samples have already been received.

I believe Lev's comments about the $75 - $76 million in sales over the next 12 months referred to their present capability. Actually, I think he said $76 million or more, and I'm sure he is being his usual conservative self. I also got the impression that the arrival of new equipment could substantially increase this figure within the 12 months, but I'll listen again tonight and report what the exact words were.

This was the best cc I've heard so far, and I agree, John, he made a real effort not to duck the questions. Thanks Lev, do it again next time!

Now that Valence is transitioning to a commercial enterprise as of the end of this quarter, it's more reasonable to talk about earnings/shr and P/E. Extrapolating from the remarks about $76 M in the next 12 months (and I believe he added the word "conservatively") and the IDB funds, Lev must feel comfortable with that figure based on what he has NOW without injecting other possible income into the mix. My guess for earnings by the end of FY 2000 based solely on the $76 would be ~ $1.00/shr. I think this and the sales potential are what interest analysts and institutions the most. A very conservative P/E of 15 would indicate a share price of $15 - there, it's said, as much as I hate to get into this numbers game we've been playing for the past 2 years.

If there were any additional surprise income, and I know Lev isn't telling all, that would be frosting. Any other guesses or thoughts about revenue?

For those of you who are interested, the conference call is still on the Real Networks server. I listened to the call live and the Real Audio player created a metafile on my desktop (Mac). Double clicking on this gets the whole call back over the net. I haven't figured out a way to get it without the metafile - there is a password protect if you try to access it directly. Anyway, those of you who have this file might want to check it out.
