I have changed my mind on the subs price issue. I wish they would hold the line on price. It's a matter of QoS. I'm willing to pay for the integrity and security of strong service. The copper Net is a joke and one day the stock market is going to be subjected to an '87 because of it. I don't want cable to be so shaky. Let AOL have all that intermediate market. Time to get away from cut rate shabby product. Cheap was substantially accelerated by MSFT and the quality of their products dropped. I recognize that competitive pressures and big egos force companies to shoot themselves in the foot, but it's worth more to me to have a good network than it is for me to make money in the stock. More money isn't of any value if what we have to spend it on is junk.

There is more to say about this new direction, but I thought I'd hit you over the head with it and give you a chance to reply.

<<The only way to invest is to study the company and pick the potential winners, then hold for very long term.>>

Jing while I agree with some of this concept I do not agree with all, and this is why.

<<Is ATHM the winning company? Seem like it, but not so sure. Probaby no body can be sure at this moment.>>

If you study a company and see it as a potential winner, this only puts the odds in your favor. Whether you hold for 1 year or 50 years you can still lose. Yes as Ahhaha has pointed out the odds change the more you buy and sell. But they also change the longer you hold. There are no constants in either scenario. As you yourself pointed out, nobody can be sure. Are the odds on the side of a long? Possibly! Are they much better than that of a knowledgeable trader? NO People generalize trading, but there is much more to it. Most of the systems are worthless, and yes everyone thinks that there system works. The fact is, the system of (study fundamentals/buy/hold) is the best. But this system can be modified and traded with success. I know because I have been doing it for several years. True, if you are using T/A alone, you might as well throw a dart. But if you study a company inside and out you can make money trading it often. I personally know a trader who has made millions just trading INTC. He trades nothing else. I guess you could call me a long term trader with a short attention span.
