The free Alta Vista Internet service is liberal with ads, but it is free. The e-mail, on the other hand is not, although it is cheap. Less than $3 a month for full service, web-based e-mail. Otherwise, you can have your incoming e-mail forwarded to some other service such as Yahoo, Snap, another ISP, etc.

Urlman, CNBC just had the CEO of A/V on. He said the way to keep this service free is by checking out their advertisers. This is how they will fund the site. This it how CMGI will make money too. It's not that to have to look at advertising! Did you check out that article that was posted a few posts back about how important advertising/marketing revenue was going to be to CMGI?

Urlman --

AV buys RB --

You picked it. You called it. A year and a half ago. A very public congratulations to you.

For those of you who didn't know, Urlman is the one who pointed DW to Raging Bull while DW was exchanging posts with threaders on the Yahoo! (ewwww!) board. A couple of weeks later, @Ventures dropped a couple of million on them, culminating today in their purchase.

Urlman, tell me that Rusty and the boys have at least pushed a few shares your way to return the favor!
