I noticed the following article and how Intel is shaping their plans for WAN's and they mentioned "VPN-enabled network adapters that include hardware-based encryption". I thought this was curious as there was a move to make hardware based products with Firewall-1 built in. At the time, it seemed the move to hardwire Checkpoint technology was an ultimate statement of it's leadership role in firewalls. Here, we see Intel bringing together many forces, one of which is Shiva which they acquired. At one time, Shiva was a Raptor client. Axent has a strong desire to be a VPN player. So, I was wondering if you or anyone had noted this and whether Intel could some how favor one VPN software company over another? Could it be that hardwired VPN software would be a strong indication of either a leadership role, or perhaps a commoditization of a product? I took a profit recently and have seen Checkpoint has retained a strong price support. My mistake for not keeping the faith. Good luck.
