That was the best explanation I'v had from anyone including a home inspector and Makes sense to me. The roads in the north do just that, heave up when it freezes and the roads also heave in the summer heat.

Solution .....live on a boat :)

Thanks for the explanation. I have never heard of that problem before.

Guess I should be happy with this ledge I'm sitting on here in New Hampshire. Gotta blast to put the foundation in but there's no creeping once it's in.

Not much of a cushion should we get a small quake like we did about 6 months ago. Even a big truck going by tends vibrate the house a little.
