Hi Jock: I am a holder of LSI since October but have followed the company for many years. It has been an excellent run but IMO I believe it has much further to go. Based on your analysis and contributions from many others on this board, I am beginning to think that this semi cycle may last longer well into 2002 and maybe 2003.

LSI will benefit from a much longer cycle, there are some company specific items that have been discussed (like the Sony deal) that will both extend and amplify LSI's free flow cash flow.

A question came to my mind that I will throw into the mix for discussion: (1) What is the killer investment that LSI can make going forward that will make it a stronger company coming out of this semi cycle (two or three years out). We talked about the purchase of VLSI but they missed that. They were lucky to pick up Symbosis and have the opportunity to grow this business into the future. This investment should do well as internet storage needs grow and is not impacted by the boom bust cycle of the semi industry. They do need however to continue to develop the state-of-the-art technology (i.e SAN storage). Perhaps LSI can ink a deal with IBM, EMC, HWP, SUNW, or STK that will assure them of significant component sales in the future.

I would like to see LSI continue to leverage their resources and IF available pick up a struggling company that can benefit from LSI's intellectual assets....Or should they just use their capital and begin to build FAB 3 & 4 in Oregon?

It's been interesting to watch and see all the pieces come together so far. I am just wondering what might be on Wolf's plate looking out past 2002 or 2003.
