Don't forget T is on Goldmans reccomended list, just wanted to put that out there.

It is obvious that LD rates will come down to be very cheap if not free when bundled with local services, and internet etc. This has been talked about for years now. local rates will go up and Cable rates will add new price points for T to build upon and capture. In the Long Run T will have the infastructure in place and will be one of the major players like they were when they were Ma Bell...but with less of an overall advantage. It strikes me funny when analysts can's or won't acknowledge what is really going on here. No doubt that T is one of the best LONG TERM investments out there for the next 10 years.

The revenue derived from leasing out their pipes (which I feel will become reality like their LD network...ie. Resellers) will be HUGE alone.

not worried one bit about T...and will retire wit T still in my holdings.

How come no one is discussing the FCC position against AOL in Portland. Great news IMHO. Shouldn't this make T move up bigtime now? Or just modestly with all this LD rate competition? Have a lot of T I'll planning to hold. Will be looking at ATHM too if it stays in the doldrums. Longer term both big winners. Why the hell is AOL going up so much? The way I see it they have the most to lose with what's going on? Or has that all been factored in?

In any case T feels like a very safe stock now. Longterm at least it's got to be seen as a stellar investment.

> The next question is how can any of the telcos be profitable with continuing pressure on pricing and revenue?

No expert but I understand the costs of providing the long distance service has also fallen precipitously. I believe that the costs of accessing the local line is actually greater to T than providing the "long distance" part of the call. This is the reason for their obviously strong desire to buy or make deals to allow local access directly to their long distance lines, ISP, etc. It will increase the profits available to them, probably exponentially while no competitor can provide the same bundle of services at equivalent prices. This is also why T can and has outbid all others for cable companies because they are more valuable to them than to any pure cable company.

I think also you will find T going very sloowly to matching these promotional plans. From talking to people they either switch everytime a "deal" comes long or remain with their carrier, usually T since they value the quality and reliability and have run into problems if they had tried switching. Everyone doesn't buy things from discount stores even if the product itself appears to be the same, the service, etc are not the same.
