<It will confirm the type of business level Intel is seeing for its Chip Set and Mother Board business - and since ONLY INTEL CPUs go with these chip sets - or into the Mother Boards>

Actually, the way I read the article was this way: Intel-made motherboards are in shortage, not chipsets. There are a ton of other motherboards out there featuring the 440BX and ZX chipsets. I recently purchased one, a GigaByte dual Slot 1 motherboard.

This is great news, assuming that Intel didn't accidentally curtail BX/ZX motherboard production. Most of the hardware web sites out there never recommend Intel-made motherboards because they are pricey and they offer no chance of overclocking. But because of their rock-solid stability, the OEMs still demand them like crazy, and this will no doubt add a few dollars to Intel's war chest.

P.S. Just received the Pentium III 600 MHz CPU yesterday. Looks pretty sleek, even with the half-naked SECC2 cartridge. Can't wait to get it up and running.

<Since you love the YUK Register so much,>

Grow up!

<It will confirm the type of business level Intel is seeing for its Chip Set and Mother Board business - and since ONLY INTEL CPUs go with these chip sets - or into the Mother Boards - even a guy like you should be able to figure out the current "level" of Intel's business.

Does the word SHORTAGE conjure up any meaning for you?>

We had this debate on the AMD thread and you came out with tail between your legs. Want to start this all over here again?

Motherboard/chipset shortage is largely a fiasco that is a result of delayed CuMine launch and bugs in Whitney.

May be you want to explain the thread the plummeting PIII ASPs - well below the levels forecasted by Intel and well below the levels they were announced on Aug 2nd (less than 2 weeks back).

The PIII demand is so high that Intel is having to resort to yet another unscheduled price cut on Aug 22.
