Just read post 325. I hate to say it but I kind of enjoyed it. Gustave is right when he says we ain't got no culture. What he may be missing is the European culture is descending rapidly and will be on a par with us soon. Pretty soon they'll be overrun by Eurotrash and Euroweenies. The only true culture America has had has been expressed mostly by Southerners, particularly the Southern Agrarians. The only other body of writing that can be called distinctly American is that bunch of transcendental nitwits who wrote from New England in the early 19th century.
