He made some good points. The specific mention of Linux not denting Solaris market share and Linux in education were two of the more notable ones, IMO.

I couldn't help but get the feeling from the TONE of the interview though, that Eric Raymond (Geek) has suddenly changed to Eric Raymond (MBA) in his head, and that's somewhat on the alarming side. It makes you wonder if the community is close to a particularly destructive clash of egos. There were many more "I"s coming from Raymond there than usual. The somewhat wild pronouncements about market share and strategies and how Linux is hurting Novell show a bit of naivte, IMO.

Whatever. It's all good for SUNW.

What exactly does SUNW have to gain from LINUX? Is it that hardware sales will increase because LINUX is ported to SUNW chips? What about the loss of revenue from SOLARIS?
