Blue -- your post authenticates itself with blazing clarity. Were you aware that you identified the deceased in relation to his first cousin, his mother and father, his profession, his activities and impressive accomplishments -- and yet -- we still do not know his name?

No "almost" about it -- I'd say HIS passing was definitely unremarked. Rest his soul.

Welcome back! Were there Teddy Bears in the B&B room? Some people draw the line at Teddy Bears!

It is always sad when someone dies at 40, Blue. However, the difference for me between John Kennedy, Jr. and his Radziwill cousin was that in the back of my mind I thought that John, who almost everyone agreed was a good and decent man who did quiet works of charity graciously, also had the potential at some point in the future to lead this country out of the swamp that it has become. It was reassuring to me to have him in the background, and I believe he could have played a pivotal role. Certainly, there is a difference between that and his cousin, who obviously survived being born into a very dysfunctional family and had much to offer creatively, but was not an object of HOPE for millions of idealistic Americans.

Considering that many talented people die tragically young every day without any press attention at all, seeing a piece on the national news about him was probably more than other people of similar prominence could expect for similar accomplishments.
