Not all the blame goes to the parents. Too many employers are anti-family. That's why an Act of Congress was required to ensure that people didn't get fired for taking family and medical leave.

to truedog:
from C Kahn:

I have to agree that among a lot of these younger people, the children don't seem to matter very as much as they did in the past.

But, in many cases our way of life has changed to the extent that aren't as many "Two parent homes" as there were in years past. So, as you well know, many young women don't have the "Luxury" of staying home with their children, as I was able to. At least until the children started school. I know quite a few young mothers who work on computers at home. And I'm glad that this option is becoming more available. BTW I do my accounting work from home, and send important documents Fed-Ex to clients. That's why I can check in here occasionally during the day. And from what you've mentioned a while back, I take it that your wife does much of her real estate work from your home computer.
I don't have kids at home anymore. But you can bet I enjoy the convenience of working at home. But I do know a young mother who could stay home with her two year old and baby, but chooses to work outside the home. Even though her husband makes a very good living and it wouldn't be a hardship financially if she didn't work. C Kahn
