Some advice to Bernie: Maybe Lucent Technology's software was to blame for the outage, but the outraged customers rely on WCOM to have tested this beforehand. Responsibility rests with WCOM, and finger-pointing elsewhere only adds to the rage.

Admit that the 'buck' rests with WCOM, stop with the excuses and tell the customers what WCOM is going to DO to insure it doesn't happen again. And while you're at it, take a closer look at your Crisis Management procedures (if you have any).
