Re"The reports from manufacturers indicates that they have been somewhat slow to jump on to the Athlon bandwagon for two basic reasons: processor availability and system stability." And "Manufacturers have reported to us that they are seeing stability problems with the AMD chipset"

Aha. That explains the slow start for the chip and the strange behavior of the tier 1 boxmakers.

Herb,

What do you think? Looks bad, right?

If true, it will mean some delays.

Herb,

Infrastructure has definitely been one of the problems with Athlon launch and that's the reason for the delays so far. All the indications point to this problem being pretty small right now. The article itself seems to indicate this is old news. Nonetheless, thanks for reminding the risks for AMD shareholders.

Herb,

Re:"mobo problems"

Yep, its very believable.

I suspect that this intro may well be delayed till end of october in terms of high volumes.

I suspect we'll see some avilability soon but Q4 is when the real volumes will start.

Thanks for the post.

regards,

Kash
