Andy, yes it is very common for formations to have several producing layers, all over the world.

For example, at Kettleman Middle Dome, the Temblor formation produces from several layers, but at much shallower depths (see westres.com ).

To the best of my knowledge, all the other oilfields in the area produce from multiple zones (layers), including South Belridge, Lost Hills, Midway/Sunset, etc...
