Robert, my intent was to contrast your post, not necessarily to be critical of it. When a small CLEC retails to an end user, the unit of exchange could be considered a DS-0 or a T1. Maybe a T3.

But since GBLX is wholesaling to other carriers they will never go down into the depths of DS-0 denominations. Instead, their normal unit of currency will be marked by SONET denominations in chunks of OC-48, or higher, levels, even whole lambdas.

Perhaps when they deal with enterprise customers instead of carriers they will deal in OC-3s and individual T3s.

These points were highlighted today in an Executive Summary which I just finished reading, concerning a Metro DWDM White Paper prepared by Pioneer Consulting [courtesy of Hiram Walker on the HLIT Thread]:

And of course, the more salient point I was making was that the revenue valuations based on the DS-0 drops drastically when DS-0s are bought in bulk, as when they are procured as integral parts of an OC-12 or -48, or higher.
